This is a question that I have never read in any of my lactation books but here is the best answer I can come up with. A women will continue to produce milk as long as their is someone or something that is removing the milk from her . Think of wet nurses - feeding was their job for years. As far as when they stop - menopause (itself) would stop milk production. Milk production is controlled by the autocrine system. A woman does not need a uterus or ovaries in order to feed. All she needs are and a functioning pituitary.
