How can I compete with younger folks for a job in my chosen field? I am 45 and recently unemployed?

I have 25 years experience in social work but, recently my position was eliminated and I have found myself jobless for the first time ever. I am having problems even securing interviews thus not giving me a chance to wow them with my intellect and vast experience. I am getting discouraged:(
